Michael Eugene Archer, professionally known as D’Angelo, was a highly influential American R&B and neo-soul artist born on February 11, 1974, in Richmond, Virginia. Renowned for his smooth vocals, innovative sound, and soulful style, D’Angelo played a major role in shaping the neo-soul movement of the 1990s and 2000s.

Recognized as one of the most important voices in modern R&B, Billboard celebrated him as one of the greatest R&B artists of all time, while Rolling Stone ranked him No. 75 on its list of the 200 Greatest Singers in History.
